MAN KAT1 New Cab? Rust......

Hi from Australia.

We have just purchased a Man Kat 1 4x4 here in Australia and have discovered a lot of rust.
The cab is being removed at the moment and we were wondering if it is possible to purchase a new cab rather than repair the one we have? The cost to do all the rust repairs may outweigh what a replacement would cost if available?

Alternatively are there any after market manufacturers who supply weld in replacement of body panels?

Any advice help would be appreciated.

I send a warm welcome to Australia.

Sometimes You can find a cabin here in Germany via ebay or specialist truck dealer for 1,000 to 2,000 AUS$ but then You have to ship it to Australia for ???AUS$.

There is no aftremarket because these truck are just build for the German army. The later Kat I A1.1 (MAN HX/SX) are sold to other countries but not compatible with the older Kat I.

It would be good to contact one that has had similar products before and maybe they could track one for me?

I can hardly imagine the grate on the driver's cabin
Joking aside.
They can rust a lot, the KATs are also a few years old and have certainly experienced some salty Winters in Germany.
I can recommend Commerce Trucks, they are very flexible and have a lot of material.
